Today’s travel inspiration comes from Kyoto, Japan, from @aaronglewis on Instagram:

"I’d been to Tokyo once before, but this was my first long trip to Japan, speeding around the country with my boyfriend (who studied there in college) on the sleek Shinkansen to Ōsaka, Miyajima, Hiroshima, Kyōto, Hakone, Yokohama, and Tokyo at the height of fall colors. Kyoto’s sprawling Fushimi Inari Shrine and its serpentine mountain paths densely lined with orange torii (gates) isn’t on every tourist’s must-see list (especially those with limited time like us). Kyoto is, after all, packed with more temples and World Heritage Sites than one can count — you’d need ages to see them all. While we only had one day in Kyoto, this shrine, etched in my memory by an old friend’s photo, was a must-see. Though laden with history, the city is a fascinating mix of old and new, traditional and modern, and Fushimi Inari embodies that mix perfectly - beyond classic vistas like this one, new torii are always being added. Wandering the shrine’s pathways, one can’t help but feel caught up in the mix." (at www.passionpassport.com)

Today’s travel inspiration comes from Dubai, United Arab Emirates, from @ramonovr on Instagram:

"I’ve suffered flight delays before, some also on Christmas Eve, but this was the longest and also the most frustrating. But after a long and stressful journey, it was so satisfying to knock on the front door of my family’s home just after dawn on Christmas morning. And seeing family after some stressful months of separation can be so rewarding." (at www.passionpassport.com)

Today’s travel inspiration comes from South Africa, from @tliow on Instagram:

"This is a photo taken from a 4 hour hike along a part of South Africa’s ‘Wild Coast’ called Coffee Bay. We braved rain, hail, mud, steep inclines, and wild animals in our way, all in our search for the final endpoint which was called ‘Hole in the Wall’. Along the way we passed this incredible rock formation and many other beautiful sights and views which showed us that more often than not, the journey itself is as worthy of appreciation as the final destination." Today’s travel inspiration comes from Bryce Canyon, Utah, from @acfweidner on Instagram:

"Unlike many of the other National Parks on the ‘Golden Circle’ where you have to invest time to see everything they have to offer, Bryce Canyon is all about one moment. If you’re there at sunrise, the light reflects around the Hoodoos giving them a surreal glow. You can spend all day there (and I did), but you won’t see anything that matches the early morning lightshow." (at www.passionpassport.com)

Today’s travel inspiration comes from Patagonia, Chile, from @timtanner on Instagram:

"This picture was taken near Punta Arenas in Patagonia, Chile, on Thanksgiving Day. These penguins had just finished fishing and were returning from the cold ocean to their nests. Even though it was summer, the winds were fierce and air was freezing cold, but these guys didn’t seem to mind. Patagonia is at the end of the earth and feels like it, as it truly is one of nature’s grand finales. The serene setting of Chile remains unspoiled and allowed me to reflect on the untouched beauty at the bottom of the world." (at www.passionpassport.com)

And in case you missed it over the holiday, the winner of #PPholidayspirit is @griffian on Instagram! He will win a prize from Ink361. Here is his write-up:

"Cadiz City, Bacolod ~ After my Mum, my Dad and I got the flu last Christmas in cold & wet Ireland, the plan this Christmas was to spend it with my family somewhere hot. My sister, who is currently traveling around the world, mentioned the Philippines, and we were in! After the typhoon hit earlier this year, my wife and I felt a little guilty just coming here and sitting on a beach for the entire time so we made contact with a charity and the first week of our trip had involved visits to rural schools, old folks homes, an orphanage, and a remote village outside Cadiz city. This is a picture of that village. We travelled with local college students to deliver clothing and good packages to those in need. Next week will be spent with my family and I can’t wait for that but this week has been an incredible experience, and I’ve met some of the most wonderful people." (at www.passionpassport.com)

Merry Christmas (to those who celebrate) from Passion Passport, hope you’re staying warm! Today’s travel inspiration comes from Dominica, from @sean_ensch_images on Instagram:

"This photo is the result of an eight-mile, grueling hike up and down the peak’s of Dominica’s rainforest. It is a challenging feat passing through the Valley of Desolation’s hot sulfur springs, but once you reach the end at the Boiling Lake to this view, it’s all worth it." (at www.passionpassport.com)

Wishing you a bright and colorful holiday season! Today’s travel inspiration comes from Madurai, India, from @spicycheezdoodle on Instagram:

"Back to Madurai and the Tirumalai Nayak Palace, a stunning example of Indo-Saracenic architecture. The courtyard columns are 4m in circumference and 20m high, constructed of brick and mortar. My sister and I were included in several Indian tourists’ photos, posing with their families. Other than feeling like a rockstar, I remember the soothing light and quiet, broken only by cooing pigeons." (at www.passionpassport.com)

Today’s travel inspiration is from The Forbidden City, China, from @alepekemora on Instagram:

"To be honest I for a long time dreamed to visit the Forbidden City — in my mind it was a faraway, magical place with so much history that definitely it was on my list of adventures to do. Now I currently live in Beijing and found a park in the back of the north gate of the Forbidden City that has the most amazing view of that place from above, and I have to say that is my favorite spot in the city and a reminder that dreams come true."
